  1. Boil the Potatoes Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain well.
  2. Mash the Potatoes Return the cooked potatoes to the pot or a large mixing bowl. Mash until smooth and free of lumps.
